So on today's agenda, a couple things. I have a child's rocking chair that I need to make new cushions for. It is an old rocking chair that my son brought home and asked me to redo for my little grandson, Samuel. I will be doing it in John Deere fabric.
Also would like to get some baking done today, cookies sound really good.
Of course I will post pic's later. Hope you are enjoying these days as we are quickly approaching Christmas Day.

Trying Something New, Canadian Smocking
So today I tried something new to me. Canadian Smocking also know as North American Smocking. I ran across this technique as I was searching the internet for something else. When I found this, I loved the look and I have completely forgotten what it was I was searching for in the first place...LOL.
Well after finding this technique I began to search more for other patterns, with not a whole lot of luck. I did find a couple, but that is all. This says volumes to me...as it would lead me to believe it is a dying art. It seems to be more well known in a couple other countries, but not here is the good old USA. It may be more popular then the internet leads me to believe, but it is being done in the quite still homes of sewers and crafting ladies.
This was my first attempt at it and it does take quite a bit of fabric, since it is being pulled or drawn together as the smocking is done. This pattern is called "Lattice" The picture does not show my completed project, but I will post pic of the small pillow I made from it in the near future. Until then I hope this may inspire others to learn this.
